Yes, I know it is Wednesday, but for some reason I forgot to hit publish on my post yesterday. So just to mix it up a little bit here is your Tuesday post on Wednesday! Maybe it will make the weekend get here quicker? Here is to being hopeful!

With the start of another month it means it's time to pull out those calendars and get ready to schedule in some fun reasons to celebrate! For June I have put together a list of exciting reasons to take the party outside and kick off a summertime of fun. Just make sure that you have plenty of sunscreen as you are going to need it for these June celebrations...
1. June 6th: National Doughnut Day. Now if only a Krispy Kreme wasn't so far away from me. Road trip?
2. June 6th-8th: National Lemonade Days. have you heard of Alex's Lemonade Stand? This is a great cause that was started 10 years ago to help raise money and awareness of childhood cancer. Click here to learn more about this cause and find out how you can host your own lemonade stand this year.
3. June 14th: National Bourbon Day. The best way to kick off summer? With a cool and refreshing drink of course! Take today to perfect your drink mixing skills with this mint julep recipe or other bourbon drink favorites.
4. June 15th: Father's Day. Today is the perfect day to celebrate dad! Or your granddad, stepdad or the fact that you are a dad. Happy Father's Day to all those amazing dads out there!
5. June 20th: National Flip Flop Day. While this is the day before summer begins I think this is the perfect time to celebrate the official shoe (I prefer going barefoot, but if you must wear something) of summer. Now, I have always wondered this - what do you call one flip flop?
6. June 21st: First Day of Summer. Besides Christmas this might be my favorite holiday of the year. I love summer and CANNOT wait for it to get here. Let's party!!
-and also on June 21st-
7. June 21st: National Wear Your Lilly Day. For all those Lilly Lovers out there, there is truly no better way to celebrate the first day of summer than by wearing your Lilly. What will you be wearing in celebration this year?
8. June 23rd: Let It Go Day. Be prepared to spend all day singing Disney's Let It Go in celebration of this holiday. What a great way to celebrate the things you need to let go.
9. June 27th: Sunglasses Day. With summer in full swing you want to make sure that you never leave the house without your shades!
10. June 28th: Great American Backyard Campout. Before the summer evenings get too hot to handle, take some time out to celebrate the outdoors and support the National Wildlife Foundation.

What is on your bucket list for this summer? Have a happy day!

Happy April Fool's Day! Have you played a prank on anyone or has anyone played a prank on you today? If so I hope it was a funny one. With a new month comes plenty of new reasons to celebrate and I found some great holidays that you will love to take part in this month. Just don't get too excited about your new party plans for the month and end up having a prank pulled on you by one of your friends. (Sorry, I will not take responsibility for that. lol) Get out those calendars and get ready for some fun!
1. April 2nd: National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. In celebration host a PB&J party with a PB&J bar. See who can create the tastiest combination!
2. April 3rd: World Party Day. Back in the 90's this holiday was created to recognize peace and joyful expression as fundamental human rights, and celebration (or party) as the opposite of war. I am all for celebrating celebration!
3. April 5th: International Pillow Fight Day. This might be one of the most organized holidays wiith pillow fights planned all over the world. You can find the one closest to you or plan one for you and your friends to take part in.
4. April 7th: National Beer Day (April 6th is New Beers Eve - haha). Back in the day when you couldn't drink beer people were so sad. But on April 7, 1933 Roosevelt made it possible to buy beer again so everyone celebrated! So grab a glass and toast to those who made this day possible.
5. April 10th: National Siblings Day. While you may have to put up with them, you know you still love them no matter what. So today celebrate with your siblings - and probably drive each other crazy at the same time!
6. April 12th: Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. Back in college every Thursday was grilled cheese Thursday and everyone made sure to eat in the dining hall that day. While I have been out of college a few years now this is the perfect way to bring back that college tradition! Now I just have to decide which combo to go for!
7. April 13th: Scrabble Day. As a fan of most every board game I was excited to see that today is scrabble day. Grab some friends (and a dictionary) and let the games begin!
8. April 18th: National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day. Just please don't blame me if your director of HR or your boss sends you home!
9. April 22nd: National Jelly Bean Day. Since you probably just stocked up with jelly beans from Easter (April 20th) today is the perfect day to celebrate this yummy candy. Just be careful if you have those Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Jelly Beans, there are some disgusting ones in there!
10. April 25th: World Penguin Day. Who knew that this was an actual world holiday?!?! Even if you aren't located near the South Pole to see these adorable animals you can still celebrate at home with all these activities provided by Sea World.

Which holiday are you looking forward to celebrating the most this month?

It's Irish week on The Preppy Planner as St. Patrick's Day is just six days away. Last year I shared with you some great recipes, crafts and decorations to help you create an amazing St. Patrick's Day celebration. However, you don't have to go with the "green" theme when it comes to picking your St. Patty's day food. This year when making your St. Patrick's menu go with some of the traditional Irish dishes (and then throw in some fun "green" themed ones). I have put together a list of some delicious traditional Irish dishes that are perfect for this year's Irish celebrations. Enjoy!
1. Irish Soda Bread recipe from Martha Stewart
2. Colcannon recipe from Boulder Locavore
3. Boxty recipe from The Parsley Thief
4. Irish (Lamb) Stew recipe from Recipe Girl
5. Potato Soup recipe from Southern Living and Bread Bowl from Home is Where the Boat Is
6. Corned Beef with Cabbage recipe from Steamy Kitchen
7. Shepherd's Pie recipe from Irish Central
8. Bangers & Mash recipe from Kohler Created
9. Irish Beer & Whiskey (from Ireland! haha)
10. Irish Apple Cake recipe from Kleinworth & Co.

What is your favorite Irish dish to enjoy for St. Patrick's Day?

Happy Tuesday to you all! There are so many great holidays to celebrate during March, like Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day, but the list doesn't have to stop there! There are so many great reasons to celebrate this month so without having to wait any longer, here are a few of my favorite reasons that will have you reaching for your party hats...
March 4th: National Pancake Day. And it is also Mardi Gras aka Fat Tuesday aka Pancake Day! So really there is no excuse not to enjoy a fluffy stack of pancakes in celebration today.
March 6th: National Oreo Day. This year is Oreo's 102nd Birthday and I say we celebrate with the birthday Oreo cookie!
March 10th: National Napping Day. Since you loose an hour of sleep the day before because of Day Light Savings I think this is the perfect excuse to celebrate National Napping Day today.
March 12th: Girl Scout Day. Because you still want/need a reason to justify buying that box (or three) of Girl Scout cookies. Go ahead and splurge!
March 13th: Popcorn Lover's Day. Today is the perfect day to enjoy popcorn and share it with others. Enjoy it the traditional way, with salt and butter, or add anyone of a number of flavors to it like cheddar cheese, parmesan, garlic, and even hot pepper! YUM!
March 14th: Pi Day! The best way to celebrate? By eating 3.14 pies of course. (I'll let you figure out the math on how to cut .14 of a pie.)
March 17th: Bracket Monday. For some, March Madness is better than Christmas (Please note I said some as it does not include me - I love Christmas way too much!). So grab your basketball buddies, fill out those brackets and let the craziness begin!
March 23rd: National Chip & Dip Day. While March 14th might be National Potato Chip Day, you know you like and enjoy chips that much more when you can eat them with your favorite dip. Celebrate by hosting a party and have everyone bring their favorite chip & dip combination.
March 26th: Make Up Your Own Holiday Day. It doesn't matter what you want to celebrate today as you are allowed to make this whatever you want! Maybe throw a celebration for celebrating? haha
March 30th: Pencil Day. Today is the day that we celebrate the official creation of the most famous writing utensil ever! They can write underwater, in space, and upside down. Take that pens!

What holiday are you looking forward to celebrating the most this month? I know one thing for certain, no matter which holidays you celebrate you definitely won't go hungry! Happy Fat Tuesday!

Don't put those party hats away yet, it's the annual carnival season! Carnival season starts on Epiphany (January 6th) and continues until Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday. During this time tons of parties and feasts are hosted in celebration before the season of Lent begins. While this time of celebration started as a Catholic holiday season, it is now celebrated by people of all denominations. In America some of the largest Mardi Gras parties can be found in Mobile, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Pensacola. Even if you don't live near Mardi Gras central, you can still celebrate this holiday in style by putting together your own Mardi Gras celebration. Here are ten of my favorite things about this holiday...
1. Purple, Green & Gold Everything! You really can't go wrong with these decorative party colors.
2. Decorative Beads. You can wear them, craft with them or use them as decorations
3. The Parades. See if there is a parade taking place where you live and if so grab a group of friends and head that way! Some cities will have parades in the weeks leading up to the holiday as well.
4. The Food. You will find some amazing recipes like crawfish, gumbo, shrimp, and this Mardi Gras Jambalaya from Cajun Delights.
5. The Music. You can't have a Mardi Gras party without music. For the perfect playlist find songs by zydeco, brass and jazz bands to get you in the party mood.
6. The Costumes. I am a huge fan of all the decorative masks that people wear during the Mardi Gras celebrations and the characters that they portray. You could make your own for the celebrations this year!
7. The Drinks. Yes, drinking is heavily associated with this festive holiday (but really what holiday isn't?) so have some fun in creating a holiday themed drink like this Cajun Bloody Mary or New Orleans Hurricane.
8. The Fleur de Lis. While some people have their obsession over chevron, I have always loved the fleur de lis. There is no holding back on the use of this symbol in your Mardi Gras decorations!
9. The Decorations. Feathers, glitter, beads and more take over the decorations during this carnival holiday season. Create your own party wreath for the occasion like this one from esty store Holidays Are Special.
10. The King Cake. What would a Mardi Gras celebration be without a king cake?

What is your favorite thing about Mardi Gras?

When it comes to the Super Bowl there are only a few things that come to mind when putting together a successful party:
  1. Drinks
  2. a BIG TV
  3. Friends
  4. and FOOD!
This is one party that has its main focus on the drinks and the food (mostly to help with the excessive drinking). You can theme your Super Bowl snacks to your team, pull out your tailgating favorites or just opt for something to keep you warm. With kickoff this Sunday at 6:30PM it is time to get your grocery list together and put together the perfect Super Bowl menu. Here are my ten favorite Super Bowl snacks for this year's bowl game...
Now I just need to decide which yummy Super Bowl snack that I am going to make for the game this Sunday. What is your favorite recipe to make for the Super Bowl?

Well I don't know about you, but this cold weather has got me going crazy! It's not that I don't love winter, but I just am not in favor of the freezing cold weather that comes along with it. There are those of us who love enjoying all the seasons and then those of us who wish they could wear their sandals and summer dresses all year long (guess which one I fall into?). A few weeks ago I ran across something that really got me into the perfect spring/summer state of mind: the Pantone 2014 spring colors. This year's color pallet is a nice balance of pastels and brights that are sure to brighten any event you may be hosting this upcoming year. Here are ten great event ideas for incorporating these amazing colors into your events:
1. Placid Blue Vase Centerpiece
2. Violet Tulip Floral Bouquet
3. Hemlock Invitations from Paperlily Photography
4. Paloma Tablecloth from Style Me Pretty
5. Sand Colored Furniture and Table Runner from Project Wedding
6. Freesia Macarons from Cannelle et Vanille
7. Cayenne Party Balloons from Camera Shy Momma
8. Celosia Orange Koozie Favors from Lindsy Steinberg Events
9. Radiant Orchid Lighting from Theme from JAK
10. Dazzling Blue Velvet Cupcakes from Bake.Frost.Repeat.

I cannot wait to start using these colors for everything! Which of these Pantone colors are you looking forward to using most during your events this spring and summer?

Welcome to 2014! As I am (trying) to get back into the swing of things after the holidays I always love taking a look back at everything I did in 2013. Being the organizational nut that I am this is my favorite way to file items away from the past year, clean out anything old and motivate me to make some new resolutions for the year to come. So while I have been cleaning out the old to welcome in the new I took a look back at some of your favorite posts (and mine!) from 2013.
I love having a clean slate to create something new and for me 2014 is a blank canvas of opportunity! What are you looking forward to in 2014? Any suggestions on what you would love to see on the blog? Leave your suggestions in the comments section below and then be sure to follow me!

Don't forget you can follow me by signing up for my email list, on Pinterest @PreppyPlanner and also you can find me on Instagram @PreppyPlanner! Happy New Year!!

The end of the year is almost here and the holidays will creep up on your fast that you can imagine. From holiday parties to counting down to midnight on New Years Eve there are tons of reasons to celebrate in December. Last year I shared with you ten of my favorite holiday events, but the list doesn't have to end there! There are tons of fun and silly holidays that you can celebrate as well. Here are ten of my favorite reasons (besides Christmas and New Years) to party in December...
1. December 4th: Santas’ List Day. He is making his list and checking it twice today!

2. December 5th: Bathtub Party Day. The perfect time to relax before the holiday craziness takes over.

3. December 9th: Christmas Card Day. It is not too late to still send your holiday cards! Invite a group of friends to bring their cards over and you can have a fun Christmas Card party.
4. December 16th: Chocolate Covered Anything Day. Anything holiday that deals with chocolate is a great one to celebrate in my book.

5. December 18th: Bake Cookies Day. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa or all of them today is the perfect day to bake your holiday cookies. Anyone up for a cookie swap party after?

6. December 20th: Go Caroling Day. This is a great day to spread some holiday cheer. So grab a group of friends and head to a local nursing home or retirement center for a fun caroling outing.
7. December 21st: Ugly Sweater Day. What better day than today to pull out those “festive” holiday sweaters and wear them while spreading holiday cheer?

8. December 24th: National Egg Nog Day. While you are getting those last minute Christmas details checked off your list take some time out to celebrate with a delicious cup of egg nog (or two!).

9. December 27th: National Fruitcake Day. If almost no one likes fruitcake how come it is the most common Christmas present? Guess today is the perfect time to find out! Here is a fruitcake recipe from Martha Stewart that you can try. (And why does it take so long to make?!?)
10. December 31st: National Champagne Day. I will toast to that while ringing in the new year. Cheers!

What is your favorite favorite reason to party this month?
